This one-time class, I will teach children how to create origami paper projects. We will begin with the basic folds and simple projects and will progress to more complex shapes as the class progresses.
I've been doing origami, or paper folding, almost my whole life--it's one of my favorite hobbies, and I'm eager to share it with you and get you started on a hobby you can do anywhere you have a piece of paper. It still amazes me how many animals, flowers, and abstract designs can be made from just one sheet with and it will amaze you and your friends too.
This class is designed for students totally new to origami. We'll cover the basic folds and their names, as well as how to make a square if you don't already have one, and we'll make two traditional models, a graceful swan and a medieval samurai helmet!
I'll go over every step slowly and from as many angles as needed to follow along.
Students should have several sheets of paper, at least five. If you have origami paper already, that's great! But if you don't, regular computer paper will work too...you can always color the model when you're done folding!
No experience required! If you've ever thought there has to be more to do with paper besides airplanes and fortune-tellers, guess what? You were right! Come see what's waiting!
