This free zentangle for kids activity has been inspired by zentangles. “Zentangles are drawings composed of patterns (tangles) that can be viewed from all four sides. Zentangles do not contain recognizable objects and there is no “right side up”. The Zentangle method is very focused and mindful.”
We will start by defining a Zentangle. Throughout the class the purpose for this art style will be discussed. The teacher will show some examples of Zentangles. The teacher will show examples of how to start a Zentangle. Students will be instructed to draw a different shape to fill with Zentangles each week or they may draw their own design. Students can follow along or make their own patterns. The teacher will guide students in recreating a particular pattern. Students will interact with and inspire one another by showing their art work. The teacher will also talk about how students are feeling while working on their project. At the end of class the teacher will talk about finishing their artwork and encourage students to continue to create more Zentangles. Lastly, the teacher will ask how students feel compared to how they felt at the beginning of the class.
