Students will be taught the course online on platforms like zoom, teams etc and it will be an interactive session where students can get their doubts clearer instantly by raising their hands and unmuting themselves. Doubts can also be solved after the session as well. Classes can be scheduled as per the convenience and comfort of the student. Preferably, lectures will be conducted by evening.
This is a great course for many different students! Some students have experience with other instruments, others do not! Some have begun learning a few chords on their own, while others just received their ukulele the day before class begins. Everyone is welcomed- and once the basics are covered I try to offer a variety resources aimed at each students needs. Students will meet thrice a week with the teacher, where they will review the previous weeks content, learn a new concept, chord, strum (rhythm), and/or song and practice with the aid of the teacher and peers. Students will be able to ask questions during the live session as well as online during the week.
Course Structure-
Tuning! Students will learn the basics of tuning their instrument so that they can come to each class prepared. We will also cover basics, such as the history of the ukulele, the parts of the ukulele, and how to read chord charts.
Chords C7, C and F. Students will learn the first three basic chords of the ukulele. We will also dive into strumming and how to read various strumming patterns.
Chords G, G7, Am. Students will learn the next set of three chords on the ukulele. We will continue learning new strumming patterns so that students can build their library of tools for each song they learn in the future. This week students will also choose one of 1 song to begin practicing.
We will work on developing practice techniques that will help learning future songs on their own.
Students will present what they have learned so far! Students will play a part or all of the song they have been working on. Students will then choose a second song to begin on their own using the strategies we have covered in previous weeks.
Students will check in and share progress on their songs. Students will work with the teacher in planning practice and next steps for the following week. This week I will also introduce fingerpicking and TAB. Students will begin playing melodies as well as chords.
Students will review the fingerpicking songs. They will share their most recent song with the class. For the last day, I will cover great resources that can help guide students in learning on their own when the course has ended.
