Exploring the different genres of folktales and writing your own story by the end of the 8 th session.
Books in the folktale genre contain stories that have been passed down from generation to generation, often by oral telling. The folktale genre includes, but isn’t limited to: myths, tall tales, legends, fables, and fairy tales. The settings for stories in this genre can be real or imaginary. Folktale genre stories are written in an informal and informational way that imparts a moral based theme.
This collection brings together folk stories from many different cultures. In this course they will get to learn about different stories. Then try out the activities to practise your comprehension and creative writing skills.
In this 4 week course the students will learn the following:
- Chain genre,
- Pourquoi genre,
- Trickster genre,
- Magic genre
At the end of the module the children will have their own story ready.
