How does a Multi-Day Course work?

A Multi-Day Course meets multiple times over one or more weeks. Learners join the teacher in live video chat sessions at scheduled times. Outside of these sessions, they can take part in a classroom discussion group and message the teacher directly. Longer courses create more opportunities: real-time activities, engaging projects, and interaction with diverse classmates from other states and countries.

Description

Class Experience

Let's start at the very beginning. A very good place to start. When we read we begin with ABC. From week 1 your child will be introduced to a new phonics sound and they will be taken through the entire Jolly Phonics program. Learning of the sounds of the alphabet through music and actions, complemented by activities and craft, will take your child through the first steps of learning to read.

  • Parents can use the weekly class as a base for further activities and consolidation, which in turn helps your child to confidently recognise every sound in the English language.
  • Every week, add sounds to your charts and learn the formation of sounds in manuscript or cursive. Parent's please choose which way you prefer your child to write.
  • Sound 'S' snake. Can you make a s with your arm and slither like a snake? Show and tell your S objects. Twinkle twinkle little 'star'. Can you glue your Sun, moon and Stars in the sky.

  • sound 'f'. Jolly Phonics song and worksheet. 'F' for 'Five little Monkeys jumping on the bed.' Join in with finger puppets. Colouring, sequencing and formation.

  • Sound 'b'. Jolly Phonics song and worksheet. 'b' for bee. 'Nature's Tiny Miracle: BEE' by Britta Teekentrap. Bees and flowers cut and stick. Flight of the bumblebee. Beehive tricky words.

  • Sound 'T' tennis. Sing the Jolly Phonics song and complete the worksheet. Can you count to 't' for 10 whilst I 'tap' the tennis ball with my tennis ? bat. Be introduced to 'tortoise' from Tinga Tinga and tap tap tap your drum along with the song and with the wonderful African drummers. Colour the tortoise in brilliant bright colours and form the sound 't'.
