How does a Multi-Day Course work?

A Multi-Day Course meets multiple times over one or more weeks. Learners join the teacher in live video chat sessions at scheduled times. Outside of these sessions, they can take part in a classroom discussion group and message the teacher directly. Longer courses create more opportunities: real-time activities, engaging projects, and interaction with diverse classmates from other states and countries.

Class Experience

 

SCIENCE DESCRIPTION-

In this course, students will learn about fundamental science topics. Each week we will focus on different topics and complete hands-on activities to help learners solidify and apply their knowledge. This class will have lots of hands-on activities and "experiments" that require materials students will need to participate fully. Students will interact with the teacher and their classmates through our digital classroom, collaborate with google jamboards, and test their knowledge by completing quizzes in google forms. Each week a new "classroom" will be uploaded on Sunday evening and learners will have until Friday to complete tasks and challenges to allow time for assistance and feedback

MATHS DESCRIPTION-

MATHEMATICS COURSE:

In this course, students will learn about fundamental Maths topics. Each week we will focus on different topics.

Week 1: What is Long, what is Round?

Week 2: Counting in Groups

Week 3: How Much Can You Carry?

Week 4: Counting in Tens

Week 5: Patterns

Week 6: Footprints

Week 7: Jugs and Mugs

Week 8: Tens and Ones

Week 9: My Funday

We explore and conquer 2nd-grade math standards together. This class is a great way to practice new and previously learned skills with fun and engaging activities. We will begin class with a Math Journal Warm-up followed by a mini-lesson on one main topic/standard for the day, activity/practice time, and then we will wrap up with any questions students might have.

I will help students in areas of math they may be struggling with or would like extra practice. The content will be engaging, fun and catered to the area of math they would like to practice. When scheduling a tutoring class please include the math areas the student would like to practice. If you are able, please schedule a few days out so I can prepare the content. But I am open to short notice as well. I am also available to help with homework.

ENGLISH COURSE DESCRIPTION-

 I will help the students write in complete sentences, practice penmanship, use correct capitalization, punctuation, grammar, and enrich their vocabulary! Students will increase their critical thinking skills and become better readers. Students will read sentences/paragraphs and we will answer questions together. Fiction and non-fiction passages are covered and they will learn to identify the main idea, focus on key ideas and details, and integrate knowledge and ideas from the stories to answer questions. They will also gain an understanding of parts of speech and sentences, grammar and usage, and capitalization/punctuation. This is great practice even for students struggling with reading. Other topics included in the workbooks are commas, apostrophes, quotation marks, subject-verb agreement, past tense verbs, contractions, homophones, synonyms, antonyms, comparative adjectives, learning to write an essay (plan, write, revise, proofread, final draft), and a lot more! Students should have knowledge of blending, and letter/word correspondence to help with reading. The students must have these books with them for this class so we can work together on the exercises. I love interacting with studentsand see them gain confidence in their skills, ensure they feel welcome, understand the material at their own pace, and have fun while learning! 

Please take a look at the workbooks ahead of time so you can let me know which areas in reading comprehension and/or language arts your child needs more help in.
