Together, our young English speakers will engage in a simple, friendly discussion about various pre-planned topics. We will practice speaking conversational English comfortably, whether it is the student's first, second, or third language! Speaking with new people (teachers and other students), plus speaking with peers about agreeable topics can help young English speakers gain confidence, grow in their independence, and help them begin to express themselves more readily in English!
During our class discussion, we will practice some of the following conversational skills, and cover some of the following conversational topics (as many as possible, as time allows)
Week 1:
Session 1:
Lesson-1 Introducing Yourself: Students will learn to introduce themselves formally.
Lesson -2 Formal/ Informal Greeting: Students learn to greet people/Guests/Teachers/elders formally and Informally.
Session-2
Lesson-3 Teaching Speaking: To encourage students to speak
about their favorite food and nutrition using new vocabulary. Student-centered class.
Lesson-4 Introduction to TED Style Talk : (Technology Entertainment Design). Preparing the speakers for a TEDTALK.
Week-2
Session-3
Lesson-5 5 ways to prepare for a TED Style Talk. : Speaking on the Topic ‘5 good Habits every child should have' Students will be told about various
ways to prepare for a TED-style talk. They will be asked to speak on the topic’ 5 good Habits every child should have’ or ‘Happiness’ / ‘Laughter Club’
Lesson-6 Teaching speaking with Cue Cards: Speaking to encourage students to use new words in meaningful sentences.
Session-4
Lesson-7 Weaving a Story: Example : (It was a dark stormy night……) Students will be asked to create a story based on the outline provided, using their imagination and present it to others using a few new words.
Lesson-8 Number of ways to say ‘ you are welcome’: Students will be able to say ‘you are welcome’ in a number of ways.
Week-3
Session-5
Lesson-9 Prepare a News Bulletin: Students will collect the latest news from various sources like newspapers, YouTube videos, news apps and prepare a News bulletin, and then present the news like a newsreader.
Lesson-10 Useful Phrases and Daily use English Sentences: Students will be able to communicate in English fluently. They will learn to use phrases for saying ‘No’,‘Sorry’, ‘Goodbye’ Schedule
Session-6
Lesson-11 Watch a video of a story and Narrate Students will be shown a video clipping: After watching the clipping they have to narrate the story in their own words.
Lesson -12 Fun game with names of cities and countries/Birds/Animals/things. The name of a city will be provided to the students. The first student will speak a city name with the ending letter of the city name provided. This process will continue with other students.
Week-4
Session-7
Lesson-13 Short talks In this lesson: Students will indulge in a short conversation (Speaking Cards) with the Mentor.
Lesson-14 Advertisement of any Product: Students will be preparing an Advertisement on any Product like Dettol Handwash or Maggi Noodles. Then presenting the advertisement.
Session-8
Lesson-15 Role Play A scene will be explained to the children: Example- A customer complaining about the food in a Restaurant. The students have to play the role of a customer and waiter.
Lesson-16 Teaching Vocabulary: To encourage students to use new words, Idioms in meaningful sentences.
Week-5
Session-9
Lesson-17 Create a new ending to a Story: Example: (cinderella and the prince……) Students will be asked to create a new ending to a famous story, using their imagination and present it to others using a few new words.
Lesson-18 Useful Phrases and Daily use English Sentences: They will learn to use phrases for happiness and sad emotion.
Session-10
Lesson-19 Speak a few sentences by looking at an Image: An image will be shown to the Students. After viewing the image, students have to speak a few sentences based on the image shown.
Lesson-20 Reading Newspaper with challenging words: Reading News Articles, figuring out new words.Understanding Meanings of Difficult words and forming sentences.
